Melissa fell into acting when she was 10 in her elementary school's production of the children's version of Romeo & Juliet (In hindsight, probably wasn't the best choice for 4th graders, but that's a story for another time). From there she was hooked and performed in 11 musicals at her local community theatre and 9 plays through her high school drama program. A few of her favorites were Fools, Beauty & the Beast, The Nerd, & Peter Pan. She began singing lessons at 15 training in musical theatre with Susan Selstad & Nancy Estes, and later training classically with Amy Mascio.
Melissa attended Cal State University, Long Beach where she studied Children & Family Development, and Music. She found ways to include performances between classes including dance showcases & music performances, studying with Jerry Prell, Marion Bodner, & Dr. Johnathan Talberg.
After graduation, she wasted no time, adding 6 credits to her resume within a year including Barefoot in the Park, Legally Blonde the Musical, and Matt & Ben She had the opportunity to originate a role in the World Premiere of Three Bandits & a Baby She also participated in the Hollywood Fringe Festival working with Tony Award winner Leilani Jones.
Shortly after the Fringe Festival, she, her husband, and her precious puppy packed their life & moved to New York, where she currently resides. Since moving, she has performed around NYC in concerts, plays, musicals, and recorded demos, making her NY Debut in the 2019 NY Summerfest. Shortly after, she made her Off-Broadway debut November that same year at St. Luke's Theatre. She is also an Original Cast Member of the new musical "Love is Love is Love" by Michelle Lee.
